SWELL by Vamos brings a serious caffeine game to Taman Melodies. It’s a laid-back, aesthetic hangout heavily guarded by a couple of resident cats. Locals flock here for the rainy-day ambience and the feline entertainment—staff even hand out cat toys to keep the kittens occupied while you wait for your food.

Stick to what they do best: the beans and the bakes. The pour-over coffee requires a bit of patience but delivers a highly fragrant, worthwhile cup. Pair your brew with the widely praised apple crumble pie. Skip the burnt cheesecake, which misses the mark on texture and leaves diners underwhelmed.

Service experiences swing wildly depending on what you expect. The crew can be incredibly proactive—intercepting a child's accidental espresso order to swap in a kid-friendly Steamer Magic, or hustling to find a birthday candle on the fly. Yet, the mandatory 10% service charge rubs some the wrong way, especially since you have to fetch your own menus and order at the counter. Watch out for drink sizing too; some beverages clock in at RM12 for surprisingly small portions.

The café keeps things convenient by accepting both cash and card, and features spotless washrooms. Get your fix between 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, or take advantage of their extended weekend hours when they stay open until 10:00 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
